Well, you don’t really expect a physics PhD to be able to distinguish between complicated concepts like “two” and “three” now, do you? He never got past "one," as in the number of people who are supposed to write your dissertation.
But the real trick is distinguishing between “incompetent” and “retarded.” Gollin seems to be going for the idiot savant designation, except he hasn’t gotten started on the savant part yet.
