Is the WAUC dead?
#5
The notion of a legit accreditation agency that isn't in bed with the government is a good one, particularly if they actually have objective, enforced quality standards (unlike the current situation with the regionals).

WAUC has always been criticized as simply a pay to play operation, but there may still be a few alternatives out there:

National Association of Private Nontraditional Schools and Colleges--their website is down so they may be out of business.  Proclaimed as legit by Klempner himself, but multiple applications for government recognition rejected.  Wikipedia page still active.

National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance--DETC applicant Institute of Business & Finance once claimed (and may still claim) this as their accreditor.

American Council on Private School Accreditation--claims to be "licensed in the State of New York to offer accreditation services."

Any others that aren't obvious shams?
