The Unitd States has the right, in fact the responsibility to defend its borders from invasion. The importation of very cheap labor drives down wages here and invites more illegal entry. All of South America does not have the right to move here. Try entering and living in Mexico minus legal documents. You won't like the results.
People do act, obviously, as groups for what they see as their own interests. It is natural and necessary for others to act in groups to oppose those interests when they are in conflict with the norms and standards that are necessary for a orderly successful society.
When people act as individuals they can be treated as individuals. When they act in groups they must be treated as groups. I see nothing wrong with the United States defending its borders against illegal entry and against cheap, dangerous, products. Even against those willing to work for very low wages, which in turn hurts Americans by driving down wages to the point where the wage itself is unlivable.
My view. Consider people as individuals until they start acting in groups, then you treat them as groups. You treat people as they are and as they behave, not for their color or religion.
