Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - Randall Flagg - 08-04-2007 "He noted that when the defunct LaSalle University in Louisiana, which he called a "degree mill," was raided by the FBI in 1996, some graduates opted not to give up their degrees in return for their money back." --John Bear--Inside Higher Education-July 7, 2005 Now that is certainly fine that John used his inside, very close, contacts with the FBI to get this information so early, but, you see there is a bit of a problem. Then why did he put out his 1997 Edition of the guide and NOT say a SINGLE negative word about a school that had been raided by the FBI the year before. Check out the 1997 Bears' Guide--12th Edition--page 212. Not one single warning word to his readers. Oh well, I guess one can't expect speed from an old miller. I'm sure by 1998, ok, at least close to then, Bear had read a newspaper and seen something about it (LaSalle) having been caught. So much for our protection from mills by the BEAR. A day late and a dollar short---again. And here is a wonderful piece of advice on LaSalle. "The new LaSalle seems to be run honestly and reasonably, so if one is absoulutely convinced an unaccredited degree will meet ones current and future needs, they are one of the MANY to CONSIDER. The accreditation for which they are applying is unrecognized, and is unlikely, in my opinion, to be of use to its graduates." --John Bear--AED--1998 A school just raided by the FBI and Bears recommends the NEW LaSalle as a usable choice. Jeez, give me a break. The guy can't catch a cold and tries to sell himself to the public as the expert at milling. Well, maybe in creating them, but spotting them, maybe not. RE: Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - Randall Flagg - 08-05-2007 "Bear thinks there are three type of people who enroll in degree mill programs: People who know and don't care, people who have suspicions but take a chance and those who are fooled, he said. The last category is a small minority, he said." --Degree Mill News--2006 Bear should have listed the fourth reason: People who Buy Bears' Guides and think they are buying a guide to good usable schools. They find a school listed in his guide, it gives the contact information with absolutely NO negative comments about the school. They contact the school, all seems fine, and then, a few years later, John Bear decides it is a mill. Is it his fault? of course not. He sold you the information in something called a school guide but it was never meant to be a real guide, just some information you could use or not, and the expert?? well, it seems he doesn't stand by what he says or sells. Once you have the guide it's your problem, not Bear's. As long as your check for the guide clears the bank he is done with you. As a guide Bear would never have found Oregon, maybe the USA, if he started there. RE: Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - Hogwasher - 12-18-2007 Randall Flagg Wrote:Oregon is maybe the USA, maybe not. So Randall, I thought of an advantage to your being an idiot: you can watch the fishing programs on television and find them even more suspenseful (oooh-- will he catch a fish?) than watching water evaporate from your bathroom floor. RE: Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - Randall Flagg - 12-18-2007 Everything after "I thought" was simply paralogism and parisology. RE: Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - Little Arminius - 10-09-2008 Ahh, the good old days ... Bear unloading copies of Bear's Guide at DD RE: Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - Fort Bragg - 10-09-2008 Little Arminius Wrote:Ahh, the good old days ... I paid good money for the 1992? version. Like an idiot I actually believed the lies. At the time I didn't realize I was an idiot. I'm sure Bear thought we were all idiots 20 years ago. His opinion hasn't changed. He's just more honest now that he's just waiting around to die. RE: Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - D00bie - 10-09-2008 After a month he was only able to unload 7 or 8 copies out of 12 to his own disciples. How the unmighty and fat have fallen. Cheers, RE: Mill Fighting Man / John Bear - Little Arminius - 02-18-2009 Did he ever unload the remaining copies? |
