DETC Kudos to CCU's Neal for Role in Texas Joining 21st Century - Dickie Billericay - 08-01-2008
Only months after being falsely called a mill by uninformed government idiots at congressional hearings, CCU received DETC accreditation.
Now CCU has successfully taken on more uninformed government idiots, this time the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
The THECB yokels were calling DETC schools mills, apparently based on an old list provided to them by adjudicated civil rights violater and admitted pervert Alan Contreras.
Nice work by President Neal getting the Texas sphincter boys in touch with the 21st century.

This spring, CCU President Thomas M. Neal was honored with a distinguished recognition award by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) for his outstanding work contributing to the advancement of distance education.
President Neal was honored for his unheralded efforts over many months to gain formal recognition for DETC under the rules of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). On July 24, 2008, the THECB unanimously voted that the Accrediting Commission of the DETC be formally recognized under the provisions of Texas law. For the first time, DETC and its institutions will be formally recognized in the state of Texas.
In addition to his recent recognition, President Neal was selected to serve as Vice Chair of the DETC Business Standards Subcommittee for the 2008-2009 Council year.
As a result, he will participate with DETC’s Distance Education Workshop this coming October at the University of Notre Dame where the first subcommittee meeting will take place.

Tom runs a damn fine operation. I hope he remembers that good service and not jerking people around has won him lots of friends. I want him to do start a DBA program SAP and price it the same per credit as existing graduate courses. He would have a lot more friends.

CCU is getting better and better every year and some research indicates that they are tops in the student satisfaction quota, a claim that cannot be made by some of the R.A. for profit universities.
Student satisfaction is arguably the most important criterion in the evaluation of a school.
CCU will soon offer professional doctorates as well and if they keep their fees low, they will become a strong competitor in the higher education market.

In my experience, CCU has been really student friendly and laid back. There was no signing you up to a long expensive program and then threatening to sue if you didn't like it. If you quit you only paid for courses completed on a pro-rata basis. All there rules were listed and were really simple and followed. The one tuition, at the time, covered all fees with no nickel and diming. They offer a low monthly payment plan.
It almost seems like they made a list of things that tick students off and avoided them and made a list of what students like and incorporated them. I've taken twenty-some graduate courses from them and haven't found one thing to tick me off. Sometimes I tick off easily.
