Online LLM from ABA Southwestern - Martin Eisenstadt - 03-21-2011 ABA-accredited Southwestern Law School now offers an online version of their LLM in Entertainment & Media Law. Not cheap at $1,297 per unit for the 24 unit program. http://www.swlaw.edu/studentservices/llmadmin/llm_entmedia Interestingly, the program is offered in "collaboration" with Kaplan Legal Education, which runs DETC but non-ABA accredited Concord Law School. http://kaplanlegaleducation.com/southwestern_law_school_announces_online_collaboration_with_kaplan_legal_education RE: Online LLM from ABA Southwestern - Armando Ramos - 03-23-2011 Nice find, Martin. Interesting how these online LLM programs are beginning to pop up more frequently. As demand drives the market, can the ABA luddites continue to suppress online JD degrees? Here's another new one for you. University of Denver is now offering an online LLM in tax. This one began in the winter quarter of 2011 (i.e., just this past January). Tuition is $820 per quarter hour and the program is 45 quarter hours ($36,900). Not cheap, but a degree from the alma mater of Condoleezza Rice could be a good value for the money. http://www.du.edu/tax/academics/online-program.html RE: Online LLM from ABA Southwestern - Yancy Derringer - 04-12-2011 (03-23-2011, 05:28 PM)Armando Ramos Wrote: Here's another new one for you. Considering that the ABA moves at the speed of molasses in winter, it's a veritable flood of online LLM programs lately. Here's another: ABA-accredited John Marshall law school in Atlanta has a new DL LLM in Employment Law. "Exclusively Online" they advertise, but they require a two-day "orientation" in Atlanta. Some things are more exclusive than others, apparently. Classes are offered consecutively, i.e., one class at a time. In the first two semesters students take four credits by taking two consecutive 2 credit courses. Over the final three semesters students take four credits of course work per semester, and earn an additional four credits through presentation of a thesis. Tuition is $1075.00 per credit hour for 24 total credit hours. http://www.johnmarshall.edu/LLM Unlike Southwestern, no connection to Kaplan Legal Education, but ironically the program director's name is Lisa Kaplan. Let's see how long before Noseburn steals this and posts it without attribution at DD as if he found it himself. Interesting that California, hardly a bastion of libertarianism has the mose lenient laws when it comes to taking the Bar Exam. Would anyone know if there are any other states which allow DL degrees in able to satisfy the educational requirements for the Bar? Check the ABA Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements. Chart 3 (pages 20-21) shows only California, DC, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Vermont as allowing "online study" to take bar exams.

RE: Online LLM from ABA Southwestern - Armando Ramos - 04-24-2011 Speaking of Vermont, another online LLM, this one in Environmental Law from ABA Vermont Law School. http://www.vermontlaw.edu/distancelearning/x12502.xml Tuition for the 30 unit program at $1,219 per is $36,570 total. http://www.vermontlaw.edu/Admissions/Tuition_and_Financial_Aid/Tuition_and_Fees.htm RE: Online LLM from ABA Southwestern - Armando Ramos - 06-13-2012 Boston University has a new online LLM in Taxation starting Fall 2012. Tuition for the 24 credit program is $1,803 per credit, plus a $60 per credit "technology fee." Quote:June 12, 2012, 9:02 a.m. EDT |
