I can't say that I'm suprised. Actually I thought that the chances he would complete the PhD or ThD were about the same as the chance of Johann staying away from DD until 2012. Too bad, as I have always liked and respected Jimmy Clifton (and still do). A doctoral program that includes a diss is a serious undertaking on multiple levels. I give all the more credit to Bill Grover and the late Uncle J (has it been 2-years already?) for obtaining their doctoral degrees later in their respective careers.

I have decided not to continue my SATS Ph.D. in Practical Theology. The reasons are many:

1. I just could not see making the payment when it was due. While inexpensive, it was a lot to me.
2. A doctorate in Practical Theology would have not benefitted me at all, especially since I will never serve in pastoral ministry again since becoming a Christian Scientist.
3. A Pastoral Theology degree would not benefit me in my current career in mental health.
4. While unaccredited, I already have a Ph.D. that is accepted in my state as a valid degree to engage in consumer transactions.
5. I was going to enroll in the Cal Coast Ed.D. in Ed Psych program but again, why? What good would it do me? Why spend $18,000 that I don't have and will never be able to pay off?

Thanks for all the support and encouragement.

Jimmy ran out of money? You mean between that lock smithing gig and his Sunday collection plate he wasn't rolling in the dough?

Jimmy obviously isn't Catholic, or he would know Dominus providebit. Or is Jimmy not on good terms with the Lord anymore? Those off brands might not have the same pull upstairs as the old reliables.

You think he might have assessed his level of financial comfort before beginning, right?

Sounds like the light finally went on. If you have one perfectly valid, legal, useful doctorate why would you waste time and money just to get one that makes the swarming assholes happy? If unaccredited and cheap works for you, you just proved the Klempner Klone Klan wrong.

The Catholic Church no longer requires people to learn Latin though there is a revival or the Latin Mass. Its kind of on a voluntary basis. These days there is a whole generation of priests who never had to learn Latin and getting them to return to the traditional mass is rather difficult.

Having read most of Jimmy's posts over the years I can address this adequately, I think. First of all, Jimmy's main source of income is in mental health. His locksmithing business is very minimal due to time constraints with mental health therapy work.

Jimmy hasn't served in pastoral ministry in nearly four years. Also, the denominations he has been involved with during his ministerial career--Quakers, Congregationalists, UCC, Presbyterian, and Christian Church-- are far, far from offshoots.

I am sure he appreciates this.

I think the light has always beenf on but Jimmy did post a few times about wanting to enter other fields that definitely required an accredited degree. Obviously he has changed his mind. Let's see what else he posts about all this.

Actually, I am still awaiting for it to be disabled but posted here because this thread wasn't vitriolic or racist, which is my reason for wanting it disabled.

ADMINISTRATORS: Kindly honor my request to disable my account. Thank you and thanks for the privilege of posting here for a couple years.

I should have put the annoying smiley face on that so everyone understood it was said in jest, like most of the insults that Jimmy garners here. Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin We all like Jimmy too.

That also explains why Jimmy spends so much time at DD. That bunch needs all the mental health therapy they can get!

You mean just because some government paper shufflers waved their mighty hands over it doesn't make it instantly "wonderful"? Don't say that in the lair of the bear or they'll revoke your password there too.

What are you aspiring at, Janko's empty seat?
Simply stop posting if the place isn't to your liking...and if you want to score points with the gaynutzs at degreeinfo or degreediscussion, I suggest considering boyfunk or perhaps a degree validated by the APCU.
I understand one might want to be associated with people he could freely introduce to his mother or church members...for that I see how one would want to prefer degreeinfo or degreediscussion to this place.
