I think this is one of those things that's slowly changing.

I can remember having emails back and forth with Mike Lambert at DETC, with his arguing that DETC wasn't "second tier" accreditation, and me arguing that it was.

At the time, almost none of the RA schools were accepting DETC credits (other than through the ACE process) and quite a few employers considered a DETC degree "rinky dink." And let's not forget that DETC shot itself in the foot by accrediting a handful of shoddy schools with shady reputations.

But... it seems that the tides are changing. I'm sure that originalbigjim's experience would match what a number of employers still say today, but, let's remember that distance learning degrees were for many years considered fraudulent or second tier regardless of their source... and there's pretty wide acceptance for them now.

I never thought I'd hear myself say this, but I think the same is becoming true of DETC-based degrees as well.[end quote]

Get a friggin degree of any sort and earn the right to be an expert in something other than online gay pornography.

We're not sure to which shoddy schools Chip refers. Any that have shown up have been punted or chose not to renew accreditation.

RA schools not accepting credit is a function of competition and nothing more. RA schools are typically set up to profit the academic elite rather than shareholders but it still all comes down to money. If they accept the fact that the same MBA that they sell for $30,000 can be produced by a DETC school for less than $5,000 their weekly 9 hours of work for half the year might not rate more than $100,000 per annum. State governments might start hiring private companies to bid on education services.

the 'gold standard' guys are funny...
I don't know whether Thomas Chip White (owner of degreeinfo and gay teen porn guru ) ever discussed high accreditation matters with DETC officials.
Maybe so, maybe not.
If he did, think about the poor DETC guy who says to himself 'hey! I must try to appease this guy, otherwise he'll give us bad press on his opinion-leading Rolleyes forum'...
Little did he know that just minutes after sending pompous emails putting someone else's credibility on trial, the clown would troll queer boards advertising in very graphic terms the gay teen porn clip he had personally filmed days earlier...

simple: cut the fat... how in hell does a 'good education' need 'university sport', university dorms, university basketball, soccerball, rugbyball, tennisball fields...and associated costs, paraphernalia, wardens, maintain?
Want a juvenile experience like those crummy 1980s movies?
Visit Oktoberfest or Rio's carnival...
You get an education reading books and learning, not 'partying' and playing with a ball with a bunch of other aping underachievers.
Getting pussy?
Hell, with the tuition fees you can spare, you can almost buy a brothel...

This is why Mike Lambert is such a great man.  He has the patience of a saint.  Imagine having your life's work being called "second tier" by a pedophile-pandering porn-peddling enema-vending academic fraud.  That sick bastard has no right to judge Lambert or DETC or anyone else.  This is like Charles Manson calling you "second tier" for going to church on Sunday.
